Problem/Opportunity:

The Planning & Process Office of a major Healthcare IT company initiated a strategic initiative to implement new product management processes to help the organization develop market-driven business cases for new product ideas.  As the processes were developed, there was a need to ensure that all Product Managers, Product Marketing Managers, Developers and other related process owners were trained on the new processes.

Solution:

In partnership with the core PPO Team, two customized workshops were developed.  The initial workshop provided the target audience with an overview of the new methodology and processes and detailed how their roles would change as a result of the changes.  The second workshop provided Product Managers and Developers with the skills and tools to assess their existing product portfolio and map their products to the appropriate phase based on the new methodology.   The Implementation workshop also explained the new governance process and how "go" and "no-go" decisions would be made on new product ideas.

Results:

• Awareness and implementation of process across all Product Management functions
• Delivery of workshops to over 170 Product Managers
• Development of a consistent framework to drive new product ideas
• Improved transparency into product portfolio across all product and solution lines
